VOLUNTEER PROJECT HIGHLIGHT
Trail Maintenance Day
Red Hill Conservation Area

Thank you to the volunteers who participated in the fall 2005 trail workday at the Red Hill Conservation Area! Volunteers worked on carrying out much-needed maintenance on the popular Red Hill Trail, which leads thousands of hikers from the trailhead to the summit firetower each year.
Volunteers also began work on developing a new trail which will create a loop path down from the firetower. More information will be posted about this loop trail once trail blazing and the installation of signage is complete.
Special thanks to John Oliver, Property Adopter, Red Hill Conservation Area, for his dedication to the stewardship of this protected area. Besides organizing and leading this Trail Maintenance Day and many others, John has been involved in every aspect of the stewardship of this conservation area-his extensive volunteer contributions are greatly appreciated.
The Red Hill Trail can be accessed from the Trust's trailhead parking lot off of Red Hill Road in Moultonborough. The parking lot was expanded and refurbished in 2004.

Red Hill Trail Round-trip Distance: ~ 3.5 miles
Red Hill Elevation: 2029 feet
Trail Vertical Climb: 1375 feet
Directions: Heading east on Route 25, at the traffic lights in Center Harbor take a left onto Bean Road. Drive for approximately 1.5 miles, then turn right onto Sibley Road (Red Hill Forest Fire Lookout sign is at the turn). Travel 1.2 miles to the trailhead, turning left at the juncture with Red Hill Road. You'll soon see the parking area on your right, with a lower and upper section. The Trust's trailhead kiosk is located at the start of the trail in the upper parking area.
