STONEDAM ISLAND MEREDITH

Stonedam Island's 112 acre wildlife preserve located in Meredith is one of the largest protected islands on Lake Winnipesaukee; the Trust traces its founding to the efforts to save Stonedam from development in the 1980's. The island features a self-guided nature trail through mature forest and wetlands, an impressive view site at the height of land, an historic log cabin and a quiet beach for picnicking. Boats can access the island from a dock on a northeaster cove (see trail guide map); canoes and kayaks can put in near the docks as well. A visit to Stonedam can provide an enjoyable and educational experience for the entire family. Click here for the Stonedam photo album. A map of the site may be obtained by calling the LRCT information line at 603-279-3246.
