SQUAM LAKE WATERSHED

View of Squam Lake Watershed from the Squam Range
Squam Lake is the birthplace of New Hampshire lakeside conservation;
its rich wildlife habitats and unspoiled beauty are testimony to
the wisdom and forethought of previous generations of landowners
and sojourners. The Squam region has retained its natural character
and thus its desirability through careful stewardship on the part
of the entire community. The focus on Squam has not only been on
the shores and islands of its waterfront, but also on the watershed
that replenishes and protects the beauty and the health of the lake.
The Trust works closely with the Squam Lakes Association, the Squam
Lakes Conservation Society, and others to continue to honor the
conservation traditions that have preserved Squam and its surroundings
over the years.
