Tradition of Low-Impact Recreational Use: Year-round residents and summer sojourners on Squam Lake have perpetuated a tradition of low-impact recreational use in the range, including hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, hunting, and fishing. The Burleigh Land property encompasses significant parts of key trails—the Crawford-Ridgepole Trail, Cotton Mountain Trail, Prescott Trail, Old Mountain Road, Prospect Trail, Cascade Trail, Mt. Morgan Trail, Mt. Percival Trail, and Old Highway, as well as trailheads of several of these trails—and includes the summits of Mount Webster (elev. 2,076') and Mount Livermore (elev. 1,500') and the upper elevations of Cotton Mountain (elev. 1,270'). The Squam Lakes Association maintains trails in the Squam Range, including the renowned Morgan-Percival loop and the Crawford-Ridgepole Trail, parts of which are within the bounds of the Burleigh Land property. The trails in the Range are among the best maintained in the region; the views from the mountain summits and ridges are breathtaking.
