History of Private Ownership: The vast majority of the Squam Range, notably including the Burleigh Land property, is owned by a few families, some of whose connections to the land now span parts of three centuries. These families have stewarded their lands wisely, have made allowance for thoughtful public access, and have provided leadership to the conservation community on Squam Lake for generations.
