Connection to Conservation Lands: A major conservation resource in its own right, the Squam Range, including the Burleigh Land property, is made all the more noteworthy due to its close proximity to the 700,000-acre White Mountain National Forest, which borders the Squam Range to the northeast at Sandwich Notch. In addition, thousands of acres in the Squam watershed, close to the ridgelines and forests of the Range, have been protected by LRCT, SLCS, SLA, and other local groups. The Squam Range could be the crucial link in a green belt and a trail system that could connect Hanover and Mt. Cardigan to the Ossipee Range.

The map above depicts the parcels that are part of this land protection effort in yellow. Parcels in green are already conserved in fee simple or with a conservation easement by conservation organizations.
