KNIGHT'S POND ALTON

Just south of Wolfeboro, the Knight's Pond property (332 acres) includes a clear pond impounded by beavers, surrounded by varied terrain and extensive woodland. A well-maintained trail skirts the entire shoreline, crossing the pond's outlet over a wooden bridge and entering into shaded hemlock forest populated by deer, ruffed grouse, and other wild inhabitants of the northern forest. One of the most popular Lakes Region nature walks, the Knights Pond area provides a "keen sense of being separated from the busy, noisy world." (AMC Nature Walks Guide)
