FIVE MILE ISLAND

Five Mile Island is an undeveloped island located in Meredith, N.H. with two natural beach areas and wooded shores totaling 3,370 feet of frontage on Lake Winnipesaukee. Views from the island include vistas of the Ossipee Range, Red Hill, Three Mile Island, and the Belknap Mountains. The island is heavily forested, with a mixed growth of oak, birch, maple, and pine predominating, and understory growth of wild blueberry bushes. A small wetland is located on the island, as are the remnants of a cabin foundation. Deer and other native wildlife frequent the island; loons are frequently sighted off shore.
